The currently ongoing flooding of Lubstów open-pit - view on the reservoir in 2018 [www.kwbkonin.pl]

As a part of one of the tasks of the RAFF project, scientists evaluated geological, hydrogeological and hydrochemical conditions in Lubstów Lake area - one of the final pits in Konin Basin (Poland) and in Maczki Bór open-pit area (Poland), as well as in the areas of three large artificial lakes in Northern Bohemia (Czechia). Moreover, scientists studied in detail the process of Lubstów final pit flooding which differ significantly from the study assumptions preceding the reclamation of the liquidated open-pit. Furthermore, the project team proposed a multicriteria classification of flooded open-pits, according to hydrogeological conditions.

Subsequently, hydrogeological models for the selected sites are to be developed. Models will contain hydrodynamic and water quality models.
